“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs” (Hebrews 1:1-4).
The character of God. He is a God who speaks, he communicates who he is and what he requires. In the past he spoke through people. Now he is only using one means of communication, his heir, Jesus. Jesus is the Son of God who he has given the inheritance of his kingdom to.
Jesus is the power of God, God’s word, the word he used to create the universe. Understanding who Jesus is illuminates the greatness of who God is because Jesus is God, “the exact representation of his being” (Hebrews 1:3). Everything that exists, exists through God’s word and God’s word that he is speaking to keep things in alignment is Jesus, “the power of his word” (Hebrews 1:3).
God made himself, his Son, Jesus, the atonement sacrifice for the sin that separates from God and after that sacrifice was made, God made Jesus, his word of salvation, his right hand, his power and ability to do.
An heir has access to all the father gives and God has spoken that he has given all authority to Jesus, his son (Hebrews 1:9) and that his kingdom will last forever and is marked by justice (Hebrews 1:8).
God’s final word is that the kingdom he has established through Jesus will never perish. Other kingdoms “will perish, they will all wear out like a garment” “but you remain the same, your years will never end” (Hebrews 1:12).
Jesus comes to Jerusalem as King.
“As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
This took place to fulfill what was spoke through the prophet: “Say to Daughter Zion, See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9).
The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted: “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the Highest heaven!” (Psalms 118:25,26)
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “who is this?” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee” (Matthew 21:1-11).
